Virginia Trooper Injured in Crash in King William County

A Virginia State Police trooper is recovering tonight from a single-vehicle crash in King William County.

The crash occurred Wednesday afternoon, July 21, at 4:23 pm on Route 30 just west of VFW Road. Trooper M. T. Allen was attempting to stop a violator, when his right tires ran off the raised, paved portion of Route 30. The trooper attempted to regain control of his 2006 marked police cruiser vehicle when it continued off the right side of the roadway. The patrol car then struck several trees.

Trooper Allen received minor injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Sentara Hospital in Williamsburg. Allen was wearing his safety belt, and did have his lights and sirens activated at the time of the crash.

Allen has been employed by the Department for 4 years.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
