This Montreal show, which runs April 21 – 23, 2010, is the leading Canadian food trade show.
Canada is Virginia’s second largest export market after Japan. The state’s agricultural exports to Canada have increased dramatically over the past three years in several categories. Bakery products, including bread and pasta, have increased by more than 100 percent, for a total export value of $22 million. Non-alcoholic beverage exports increased by more than 130 percent during the same period and Virginia now has begun exporting wine to this northern neighbor. Other Virginia products exported to Canada include vegetables such as tomatoes and potatoes. Pork and poultry exports are up nearly 200 percent during the past three years for a value exceeding $10 million. Participants at SIAL Canada will be able to expand the list of existing exports to include organics, bakery products, condiment, beverages and more.
