Va. Ethanol Plant on Track for 2010 Opening
Hopewell Va – The developer of an ethanol plant in Hopewell says the $160 million project is on track for completion in May 2010, despite the weak economy.
But Osage Bio Energy President and CEO Craig Shealy says the company is delaying similar projects planned in Chase City and in Union County, S.C., until the economy improves.
The Hopewell plant is expected to produce up to 65 million gallons of ethanol annually.
Osage had planned to make ethanol from corn at the plant. The company is now asking state regulators to allow it to reconfigure the facility to use barley instead of corn.
