Traffic Changes in Purcellville Due to Downtown Improvements
Purcellville, Virginia – The Town’s contractor for the 21st and 23rd Streetscape Improvements project (also known as the Downtown Enhancements project) will be continuing work on storm sewer pipe and drainage and also curb and gutter installation around the intersection of N. 23rd and 21st Streets over the next two (2) weeks from Monday October 24, 2011 to Friday November 4, 2011. During this period the contractor will be working in the roadway from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Overall work in and around this intersection will be on-going over the next several weeks.
As part of the curb and gutter work, new traffic patterns will be implemented to transition to the new traffic alignment. Local residents and all traffic, vehicular and pedestrian, are asked to be mindful of the shifts in the Downtown area and be alert.
Businesses will be accessible at all times. The parking lot adjacent to the Town of Purcellville Train Station will also be open at all times.
The contractor will be utilizing lane closures to install the required work and will be using flaggers to direct traffic in the appropriate direction. Local residents are asked to be aware of work zones and to be alert for changes in traffic patterns in areas where work is being performed.
Based on the location of work around the intersection of N. 23rd and 21st Street, the contractor may be implementing detours around the work area. Detour signs will be located along the detour route to direct traffic in the appropriate direction.
In cases of inclement weather this work may be postponed.
During work operations, all businesses and the Town parking lot will remain open at all times, patrons are asked to use caution and be aware of the work zones.
