Three Purcellville Residents Die in Single Vehicle Accident

Three Purcellville residents lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash on Route 55 Sunday afternoon.

Robert Frederick Louer, 65, of Green Cove Springs, Fl., was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban east on Route 55 about just west of Route 614 when he ran off the right side of the road. The driver over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle and drove down an embankment where he struck a tree.

The passenger side of the front end of the vehicle struck the tree.

Louer survived and was taken to Warren Memorial.

Police said Edward Enoch Nichols III, 64; Karen Nichols, 63; and Doris Degraw Louer, 90, died at the scene of the crash.

In addition to the driver, three other vehicle occupants were transported to local hospitals.

All of the occupants were wearing seat belts and the crash remains under investigation.
