Sherando High School Names Garry Sawyer Head Softball Coach

Sherando High School has named Garry Sawyer its new varsity softball coach.  Sawyer has been an assistant softball coach at Sherando for seven years and is very familiar with Sherando’s softball program.  He succeeds Erin Manuel who resigned in October after being accepted into the graduate program in math education at James Madison University.

Sherando Principal John Nelson says, “Coach Sawyer knows our softball program and has a good rapport with the players.  We’re looking forward to seeing him build on the success the team has enjoyed in recent years.”
Sawyer has been an Industrial Cooperative Training teacher with Frederick County Public Schools since August 1999.  In addition to serving as an assistant softball coach at Sherando, Sawyer has also coached the school’s girls’ tennis and freshman boys’ basketball teams.  Sawyer resigned as Sherando’s girls’ tennis coach in order to accept the position of varsity softball coach.
