The annual Reston Century Bicycle Tour, a 100-mile bicycle ride that begins at Reston Town Center and travels through Leesburg and Western Loudoun County, will take place on Sunday, August 22, 2010. Riders are scheduled to leave Reston Town Center at approximately 7:00 a.m., with the first riders expected to reach Leesburg at 7:30 a.m.
Tour riders will travel into Leesburg on the W&OD Trail to Crosstrail Boulevard and then north onto Rivercreek Parkway to Edwards Ferry Road. Riders will proceed west on Edwards Ferry Road to Battlefield Parkway, where they will turn north through the Edwards Landing and Potomac Crossing neighborhoods, cross the Route 15 Bypass, continue on Battlefield Parkway through the Exeter neighborhood, and turn south on Catoctin Circle to North Street. From North Street, riders will turn south on North King Street, travel through the Historic Downtown to the W&OD Trail just south of downtown, and take the W&OD Trail west to Dry Mill Road. Riders will then travel on Dry Mill Road west out of Leesburg, to Hamilton, Waterford, Taylorstown, Stumptown and Purcellville. The return route will bring riders back into Leesburg on Dry Mill Road to Loudoun County High School where they will get on the W&OD Trail for the remainder of the return trip to Reston Town Center.

The Reston Century Bicycle Tour is not a race. All riders are required to obey all traffic signs and signals. There will be no street closures for this event; however, motorists should expect an increased number of bicycle riders on Town streets from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Leesburg Police officers will have several static traffic control posts along the race route and will monitor traffic throughout the event.
