Pantone’s Color of the Year a Ray of Hope for Interior Decorators
It seems Pantone, the international authority of color for the design field, has selected honeysuckle as its 2011 color of the year. The unusual choice, has some designers immediately on their heels as they struggle to incorporate the color into their designs. You see Honeysuckle (Pantone18-2120) is a vibrant shade of pink. While it is slightly deeper than the pink that is in modern design thanks to cancer awareness campaigns, it a color that is unlikely to send the nation into re-decorating mode.It is however a ray of hope according to Pantone representative who described it as a dynamic reddish pink, and encouraging and uplifting.
“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,†explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Honeysuckle derives its positive qualities from a powerful bond to its mother color red, the most physical, viscerally alive hue in the spectrum.â€
