Police responded to the area of Franconia Road and Cannon Lane for the report of a crash involving a car and a bicyclist. Shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 30, three girls were riding their bicycles eastbound on a paved path on the north side of Franconia Road. On Monday, August 27, 2010 at 6:18 a.m., Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to an auto accident at the 141.6 mile marker on South Bound I-95. First arriving units reported a two-vehicle accident; one vehicle was overturned down an embankment with the occupants trapped inside. Crews stabilized the overturned vehicle and confirmed three occupants were trapped inside. Unfortunately, all of the trapped occupants succumbed to their injuries. Units evaluated four other patients’ from the second vehicle who denied injury. …

On a perfect night for high school football, the Clarke County Eagles kicked-off their 2010 season by routing the Berkeley Springs Indians, 49 to 7 at Wilbur M. Feltner Stadium.
The Eagles started the evening with a brief ceremony remembering their fallen teammate Aaron Shirley who was killed in a tragic car accident in June. In his memory, the team has dedicated the 2010 season to him and will retire his number 80 jersey for the next three seasons.

The Loudoun County Department of Economic Development is hosting a Redskins Trivia Contest every day for the next two weeks on the department’s page on Facebook.
Loudoun County is the corporate home of the Washington Redskins and the department is encouraging business leaders and residents to take part in the events surrounding Redskins Week, which begins September 7, and ends with the opening game against the Dallas Cowboys on September 12.
