Montgomery County Police Investigate Armed Robbery of Capital One Bank

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are investigating the armed robbery of a Capital One bank in Rockville that occurred on Saturday morning.

On August 20, at approximately 10:02 a.m., officers from the 1st District along with officers from the Rockville City Police Department responded to the Capital One bank located at 101 Halpine Drive in Rockville for a report of an armed bank robbery that had just occurred. The preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect entered the bank and approached the teller. The suspect passed a note to the teller demanding cash and implying that he had a weapon. The teller complied with the suspect’s demands, and the suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of currency. The suspect then exited the bank and was last seen walking toward the Twinbrook Metro station. No one was injured in this incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6’3”-6’5” tall, with a mustache. He was wearing a white dress shirt, a black tie, a black jacket with a hood, and a dark-colored baseball cap.
