Minchew Celebrates Re-opening of Renovated Purcellville DMV

Delegate Minchew has long been committed to helping provide better government services for less.  He stated: “The three key nouns to a productive government are – accountability, efficiency and integrity. Providing this type of local DMV service to residents in and around Purcellville is a huge asset to this community. This grand re-opening is proof that DMV is effectively partnering with private citizens and local government agencies to provide convenient and much needed services to our citizens.”

The Purcellville DMV Select, located inside the Virginia Regional Transit administration building, has been offering convenient service to customers since 2003. DMV’s most recent counts show that over a six-month period, the Purcellville DMV Select conducted nearly 9,000 transactions and ranks 25th out of 57 Selects for transaction volume. The DMV Select provides DMV services so residents can avoid traveling to a branch office, the closest of which is in Leesburg or Winchester—between 20 to 45 minutes away. Now that the renovations are complete the DMV Select has additional space to serve customers and a new second floor to conduct other transportation operations.

DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb said, “Services like DMV Select were made possible to better serve residents in rural communities, like Purcellville, through our great partnerships. Delegate Minchew has always supported effective partnerships and worked to make the government function smarter and more efficiently. He is a great addition to the General Assembly and we look forward to working with him.”

DMV 2 Go, DMV’s full-service mobile office, was also available throughout the day to supplement the great work that the DMV Select office provided. The mobile unitprovides all DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver’s licenses and ID cards.
