Loudoun County Sheriff Investigates Larcenies from Fitness Center Locker Rooms
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is advising owners and patrons of fitness centers in the county of a series of thefts targeting gym room lockers.
In recent weeks the agency has received several reports of items being removed from the lockers at gyms in Eastern Loudoun. The suspects are believed to be watching gym users putting items in their lockers. After the victims leave, the suspects are then entering the lockers. In some cases the lockers are left unsecured or the suspects are damaging the locks to gain entry.
On September 22nd unknown subjects entered two lockers at Olympus gym located on Glenn Drive in Sterling, VA. Items removed included a cell phone and two wallets. Also on September 22nd two lockers were entered at LA Fitness in the Dulles Town Center. Items removed included a wallet, cash, a MP3 player and jewelry. On October 15th another locker at LA Fitness was entered. Items removed included a wallet, a cell phone, sunglasses and a set of keys. On October 18th a locker at LA Fitness was entered and a key was removed. The locker was left unlocked. The victim’s car was found unlocked in the parking lot but nothing was reported missing.
