The results are in for the second annual Loudoun County Green Business Challenge. The top winners are:

  • Raytheon – Large Business Award
  • Southland Industries – Medium-Size Business Award
  • Express Lube & Car Wash – Small Business Award
  • Catoctin Creek Distilling Company – Innovation Award

The winners and participating businesses were honored at a “Green Gala” awards ceremony held Thursday night, October 27, 2011, at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne.  Sixty-three local businesses representing a broad range of the Loudoun business community submitted scorecards in the point-based competition designed to encourage businesses to adopt more efficient and sustainable business practices. Those practices range from the simple, such as turning off lights and computers during non-business hours, to the more complex, such as creating a sustainability plan and setting energy reduction goals.

The Green Business Challenge is a partnership between the Loudoun County Government and the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce.  More information, including a full list of participants, is online at www.loudoun.gov/greenbusinesschallenge.
