LCPS On-Time Graduation Rate Hits 95.3 Percent
Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) had the fifth-highest on-time graduation rate in Virginia (95.3 percent) in 2011.
Statewide on-time graduation rates were released on Tuesday, October 11th, by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). The 2011 on-time graduation rate chronicles the percentage of students who were first-time ninth-graders during the 2007-2008 school year and earned a Virginia Board of Education-approved diploma within four years.
The on-time graduation rate posted by LCPS in 2011 was the highest in the school division’s history.
LCPS’ graduation rate was8.7 percent higher than the Virginia average of 86.6 percent.
It also was higher than 94 percent rate posted by the LCPS Class of 2010.
All 10 LCPS high schools with a graduating class exceeded the average state on-time graduation rate.
Only four school divisions out of the 131 in the commonwealth had a higher on-time graduation rate. These school divisions had total graduating classes numbering 25, 142, 182 and 194, far fewer graduates than Loudoun County’s 4,046.
“Achieving this level of on-time graduation requires the combined, sustained efforts of students, teachers, parents and the community that supports our public schools,” said LCPS Superintendent Edgar B. Hatrick III. “These are the traits that make for a true ‘Climate for Success.’ ”
