Janelia Farm Research Campus to expand

The Howard Hughes Medical Institute plans to move dirt by early fall on a $23 million expansion of its Janelia Farm Research Campus in Ashburn.

The plans call for the Chevy Chase nonprofit institute to build new temporary campus housing for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and visiting scientists near the main entrance of its first standalone research campus, a 689-acre expanse that opened three years ago as the first of its kind in Northern Virginia.
