Fairfax Park Authority to Demolish Barn at Clemyjontri

carousel-whthorseThe Fairfax County Park Authority has started demolition of the wood barn at Clemyjontri Park. The removal of this barn is in preparation of future park development at the park located at 6317 Georgetown Pike in McLean. Clemyjontri Park features a unique playground where children of all abilities can play side-by-side.

The barn is located in the undeveloped portion of the site on Dolley Madison Blvd and will have no impact on park use since this area is not open to the public. Work will include demolishing and removing the existing barn and restoring the area to turf grass via access to Dolley Madison Blvd. The project is now underway and will be completed within approximately one month.

It is a playground where every child is welcome. This park is a place where children, who use wheelchairs, walkers or braces, or who have sensory or developmental disabilities, can have a parallel playground experience of fun and exploration. The park features ramps that connect structures, swings with high backs, arm rests and special safety features, rubber surfacing which allows wheelchairs to roll easily, a fully accessible carousel and picnic pavilion.

Funding for this project is provided through the capital improvement program. For more information about the project contact Project Manager Mark Holsteen at 703-324-8691 or the Public Information Office at 703-324-8662. For information about Clemyjontri Park visit us online.
