Exhibit on history’s influence on art

How history influences artwork is depicted in an exhibit on the Loudoun campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Monotype and relief prints by artist Heather Self will be on exhibit Feb. 23-March 27 in the Waddell Art Gallery. A gallery talk and reception, open to the public, are scheduled for Feb. 25 at noon. The campus is at 1000 Harry Byrd Highway in Sterling. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Self’s recent works are multiple plate intaglio, monoprint and gum transfer combinations. The series was created in her Harpers Ferry studio in a space that once served as a Civil War hospital.
