DUI Driver Stops Then Drives into Tree

A deputy from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Route 7 westbound at Algonkian Parkway in the early morning hours of December 27th. Based on his observations the deputy initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle near the intersection of Route 7 and Route 28.

The driver initially complied and stopped the vehicle stopped but then began slowly moving away. The vehicle subsequently  left the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. Police said further charges are likely.
