City Changes Search Firm to Identify Qualified Candidates for Open City Manager Position

The Winchester City Common Council made the decision to change executive search firms in their ongoing attempt to fill the vacant City Manager position. The Council made the decision after the initial group of applicants submitted by  the Mercer Group. The Council concluded that the applicant pool they received did not include a sufficient number of applicants with Virginia municipal management experience. After discussing this issue  with the Mercer Group the Council decided that they needed to make a change.  The search will now be conducted by Springsted, Incorporated. The national firm has offices in Richmond Va and the Council believes that their strong presence in the Commonwealth of Virginia will provide a better pool of applicants.

This decision was agreeable to the City and The Mercer Group.

The City compensated The Mercer Group $5,000 for the initial position advertising and collection and review of the resumes received.
