Changes to the Refuse Program and the Vienna Green Home Initiative
The January 10, 2012 Vienna At Your Service forum will feature a presentation on changes to the Town’s recycling, trash and special pickup program, as well as present information on Vienna Green Homes, the Community Enhancement Commission’s most recent sustainability initiative.
The Director of Public Works, Dennis Johnson and his staff will provide information and field questions regarding proposed changes to the Town’s refuse program, including how and when trash, recycling, bulk items and brush materials are collected. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide their comments and suggestions on the proposed program changes.

Members from the Community Enhancement Commission will present information on its newest initiative, Vienna Green Homes. The program, launched earlier this year, recognizes home builders and owners who choose to make their homes more efficient through new construction or renovations to existing structures. The program recognizes home builders who build to a recognized standard such as EnergyStar Home, EarthCraft, LEED and Passive House Institute US. Homeowners who retrofit their existing homes to achieve greater efficiency may also be recognized through the Vienna Green Homes program.
