The Loudoun Academy of the Arts Foundation will open its new arts center at 12 Cardinal Park Drive SE in Leesburg on March 1, 2010. What could be one of the biggest land use decisions of this Board of Supervisors’ term drew only a few speakers during its first public review at the Planning Commission public hearing last night.Seven of the 10 speakers present at the hearing spoke in favor of plans for the more than 330-acre Kincora development, which would be located near the intersection of Rt. 7 and Rt. 28, many of them citing specific aspects of the project as reasons for support.

Loudoun County supervisors on Tuesday approved Lerner Enterprises and The Tower Cos.’ plans to add office and hotel space to their Dulles 28 Centre project.
The massive mixed-use project sits on 300 acres at the intersection of Waxpool Road and Pacific Boulevard and currently hosts a 130,000-square-foot Wegmans, a 130,000-square-foot Target and a 151-room Marriott Residence Inn.

Science Applications International Corp. soon will bring nearly 1,200 new jobs to the area when it relocates its headquarters from San Diego to Tysons Corner.
SAIC likely will relocate about 100 top-level employees from California, according to company officials. The other 1,100 employees will be hired locally.

Neighbors of local paintball parks hate them, but these rec centers are big business for western Loudoun, rural economists say.
Outdoor paintball facilities remain a good income generator for farmers living in Virginia, said Floyd Blethen, of Lovettsville, who served on the county’s Rural Economic Development Council.
