Ward North American to Open Location in Dulles Va

Ward North American, one of the nation’s premier providers of moving and storage services, announced today that it will expand its business into the Washington, DC region by opening up its seventh national location in Dulles, Va. The moving company signed a 10.5-year, 64,539-square-foot lease at 23000 Ladbrook Drive in Dulles, VA, according to its real estate advisor, Studley. Loudoun Academy of the Arts Foundation Opens “Art Square”

The Loudoun Academy of the Arts Foundation will open its new arts center at 12 Cardinal Park Drive SE in Leesburg on March 1, 2010. The new center, called ArtSquare, will combine Gallery 222, King Street Studios and the Loudoun Academy of the Arts’ fine art classes into a significantly expanded location to better serve the area’s arts community. Kincora Hearing Draws Few Speakers, But Concerns Remain

What could be one of the biggest land use decisions of this Board of Supervisors’ term drew only a few speakers during its first public review at the Planning Commission public hearing last night.Seven of the 10 speakers present at the hearing spoke in favor of plans for the more than 330-acre Kincora development, which would be located near the intersection of Rt. 7 and Rt. 28, many of them citing specific aspects of the project as reasons for support.

Loudoun County supervisors on Tuesday approved Lerner Enterprises and The Tower Cos.’ plans to add office and hotel space to their Dulles 28 Centre project.
The massive mixed-use project sits on 300 acres at the intersection of Waxpool Road and Pacific Boulevard and currently hosts a 130,000-square-foot Wegmans, a 130,000-square-foot Target and a 151-room Marriott Residence Inn.

Loudoun County Board of Supervisors wants more tax power

Loudoun County Board of Supervisors plan to ask the Virginia General Assembly for the authority to levy cigarette, meals, admissions and increased transient occupancy taxes.The board already supports cigarette taxes, but has not historically supported meals taxes.

Science Applications International Corp. soon will bring nearly 1,200 new jobs to the area when it relocates its headquarters from San Diego to Tysons Corner.
SAIC likely will relocate about 100 top-level employees from California, according to company officials. The other 1,100 employees will be hired locally.
