Town crews will begin removing snow from downtown streets at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010. Town officials expect the snow removal process to take three days, continuing through Saturday and Sunday.
On Friday, snow removal will begin on North King Street at Cornwall Street and proceed south to Loudoun Street. West Market Street will be cleared next, starting at Wirt Street and proceeding east to King Street. Snow will be removed from both sides of the streets. Crews will close each block during removal and reopen when completed.

Leesburg Police are cautioning drivers about condiytions in Leesburg. Even though many roads are cleared, drivers should continue to use caution at intersections because of reduced visibility caused by high snow banks. Drivers should also be cautious of pedestrians in the roads because many sidewalks are not cleared.
Residents are advised to be watchful for falling ice and snow from roofs and gutters. Ice dams can cause major accumulations on roofs that can give way and fall unexpectedly.

Town of Leesburg government offices will be closed on Monday, February 8, 2010. The Council Work Session scheduled for Monday evening has been cancelled. All Work Session agenda items will be moved to the agenda for the Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2010.
Regarding other Town of Leesburg facilities:
* The Leesburg Public Safety Center will remain open.

Leesburg, VA (February 5, 2010) – Virginia Regional Transit will discontinue bus service at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 05, 2010, due to hazardous road conditions. All VRT bus services for Saturday, February 6, 2010, are cancelled.

Effective 10 AM on Friday 2/5 a snow emergency will be in effect in Leesburg. No parking is allowed the snow emergency routes of East/West Market, East/West Loudoun and North/south King St.
Drivers are also asked to refrain from parking on other roadways in order to facilitate plowing. Driving conditions are expected to be extremely hazardous from noon on 2/5 through the weekend. Please stay off the roads

Leesburg Police Seek Information on IHOP Robbery

On 01-23-10 at approximately 3:00 am, a male subject entered the IHOP restaurant in Leesburg, produced a handgun and robbed the business. The suspect is described as approximately 5’9” and weighing about 220 lbs.

Leesburg, VA (January 27, 2010) – The Town of Leesburg will be upgrading its telephones to a VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) system on Friday, January 29, 2010. Leesburg commuters will have a new place to park their vehicles when Loudoun County opens the new, permanent Leesburg Park & Ride lot at 19730 Sycolin Road on Monday, January 25, 2010.
The new lot will be open and operational for riders of the Loudoun County Commuter Bus Service as well as carpoolers and vanpoolers.
