On August 25, 2010 at approximately 1:00 AM, Leesburg Police Officers discovered a body in Balls Bluff Park in Leesburg. The body has been identified as that of a Leesburg man. At this time, all indications are that the individual took his own life. Detectives from the Leesburg Police Department are conducting a thorough investigation in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine exact cause of death.
There is no indication of a connection to the homicide that is currently under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent homicide after human remains were discovered in a wooded area near Ball’s Bluff Regional Park in the Town of Leesburg.
Around 5:47 p.m. August 23rd members of the Leesburg Police Department and the Loudoun County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management responded to the 42300 block of Ball’s Bluff Road for a report of a small structure fire. At the scene human remains were discovered.

On Thursday, September 2, 2010, the Leesburg Town Council, Leesburg Airport Commission and Town staff will celebrate the completion of new aircraft hangars on the South Apron at the Leesburg Executive Airport. The annual Reston Century Bicycle Tour, a 100-mile bicycle ride that begins at Reston Town Center and travels through Leesburg and Western Loudoun County, will take place on Sunday, August 22, 2010. Riders are scheduled to leave Reston Town Center at approximately 7:00 a.m., with the first riders expected to reach Leesburg at 7:30 a.m.

Town of Leesburg officials announced that the Town has received funding from the Virginia Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund for the construction of a 38-horsepower hydroelectric generator. The generator will use the existing hydraulic fall at the Town’s Water Pollution Control Facility outfall into the Potomac River to generate electricity. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC), in partnership with the Leesburg Police Department will be observing National Missing Children’s Day this year by participating in the national Take 25 child safety campaign. The Leesburg Police Department, assisted by members of The Northern Virginia Gang Task Force executed three search warrants and made three arrests in follow-up of a malicious wounding incident on April 26, 2010.
All three search warrants were executed in Leesburg. One adult and two juveniles were charged with Malicious Wounding by Mob and Prohibited Street Gang Participation.
