Police responded to the 1200 block of Old Furnace Road, where they found a female who had been assaulted.

As the victim was getting out of her vehicle, she was approached by an unknown person. The offender struck the victim and fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Rockingham Memorial Hospital and then transported to the University of Virginia Medical with serious injuries.

HPD continues to actively investigate this incident and follow-up on information received.

At 3:30 a.m. officers responded to the 1100 block of Harrison Street for the report of an armed robbery.

The three male victims reported that three unknown males entered the residence, displayed a handgun, and took electronics and other items from their home.

Two victims were assaulted, one of which was transported to Rockingham Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One suspect is described as a tall skinny black male, who was wearing a gray
sweatshirt.

Another suspect is described as a short, stocky black male, who was wearing a
black sweatshirt with a hood.

The third suspect is described as a black male.

All three suspects had their faces partially covered.

HPD investigators are in the preliminary stages of this investigation.

Officers responded at 9:23 p.m. to the report of multiple shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers found a female in the parking lot, who was unresponsive.

Janet Bonilla, 25, of Harrisonburg was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators and officers are currently processing the crime scene, interviewing individuals in the area, and searching for evidence related to the crime.

The exact cause of death of Ms. Bonilla is pending an investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

“This is a very tragic incident that has occurred,” said Lt. Kurt Boshart, Criminal Investigations Division Commander. “We are utilizing all possible resources to determine the motive and identify the individuals involved.”
