				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The City of Falls Church has been recognized for the fourth year in a row as a Virginia â€œCertified Green Governmentâ€ for successfully implementing environmental policies and taking practical actions to reduce carbon emissions.Â  The Green Government certification is part of the Virginia Municipal Leagueâ€™s Green Government Challenge.</p>
<p>Local governments who received the recognition earned â€œgreen pointsâ€ by implementing or adopting up to 30 policies and actions from 11 categories ranging from energy efficiency and green buildings to land-use and innovation.Â  Amassing between 100 and 124 â€œgreen pointsâ€ out of a possible 200 earned certification as a â€œGreen Government.â€</p>
<p>Twenty-five cities, towns and counties participated in the 2011 Green Government Challenge.Â  And of those 25, 20 achieved the minimum score of 100 â€œgreen pointsâ€ that was necessary for certification as a â€œVML Green Government.â€</p>
<p>The certificates and awards were presented at the VML Annual Conference in Henrico County on Oct. 4.</p>

<p>The water outage could cause some temporary discoloration of the drinking water; however the water is safe to drink. To clear the water, a cold tap should be turned on and allowed to run until it clears. The water should also be checked for discoloration before running it into the washing machine.
