At 10:00 am, on Thursday, December 8, 2011, Town of Leesburg officials will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop at 11 Catoctin Circle NE. Leesburg Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd will officiate.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shops was founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in a converted garage in Charleston, Illinois. Since its inception, the company has grown to over 1,300 corporate and franchised locations in 41 states throughout the U.S. The company is known for its obsession with fresh, quality products and high-speed execution.

Owners of the new Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop in Leesburg, Glen & Janet Barry, are excited to offer their “freaky fast, freaky fresh” sandwiches to the Leesburg community. As an added convenience, Jimmy John’s offers dine-in and take out options as well as catering services and free delivery.

In celebration of their grand opening, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop will offer $1.00 sandwiches from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Leesburg shop. The sandwiches are limited one per person. Additionally, WINC FM will be broadcasting live from the restaurant’s 11 Catoctin Circle location.

“My wife, Janet, and I are fortunate to be owner/operators of the new Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop here in Leesburg. We are long-time residents of Leesburg and are proud of the fact that we have used local talent to assist us in achieving our goal of opening up the first of what we hope will be multiple stores in the area,” said co-owner Glen Barry. “Employing roughly 30 local people has enabled us to achieve excellent customer service while providing a quality sandwich at a great value. We are excited about the prospect of giving back to the community that has been so good to us.”

“Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop brings a fresh perspective to the traditional sandwich shop,” said Leesburg Economic Development Manager Marantha Edwards. “The opening of the Leesburg shop marks the 16th Jimmy John’s location in Virginia. Their success can be directly attributed to the quality of their food and customer service. Jimmy John’s is a welcome addition to the Leesburg restaurant community.”

For more information, please visit their website www.jimmyjohns.com or contact the store at 703-779-2111.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. – Repairs to the boat ramp at Moulton Park on the Shenandoah River in Jefferson County are completed, according to Bret Preston, assistant chief of the Wildlife Resources Section of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR).

“The concrete ramp was damaged and it was difficult to launch boats,” Preston said. “A new ramp was installed in the same place and is now open to anglers and boaters.”

Jefferson County owns the boat ramp and park and entered into a cooperative agreement with the WVDNR for the repairs and maintaining the site for continued public access. The repair work is made possible through the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration funds and matching fishing license revenue through the WVDNR. Anglers and boaters support projects like this through the purchase of fishing licenses and through a federal excise tax on fishing tackle and motor boat fuel taxes.

The Moulton Park boat ramp is located just downstream from the Route 9 bridge east of Charles Town on Bloomery Road. A gravel parking lot provides adequate vehicle parking for boat trailers and space to maneuver trailers for easy launching.

Timothy D. Doane, 49, of Harpers Ferry, WV succumbed to injuries he sustained in the Christmas Eve crash. David Doane, 76, of Tennessee also lost his life in his crash. A third motorist remains listed in critical condition at INOVA Fairfax Hospital.

Around 3:30 p.m. Loudoun Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Route 9 just west of Creamer Lane for a report of a multiple vehicle crash.

Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit determined that George Radston, 58, of Ashburn was driving eastbound in a Pontiac four-door when he lost control in a curve, crossed over the roadway centerline and struck a westbound 2010 Toyota Prius. The Toyota was driven by Timothy D. Doane, 49, of Harpers Ferry, WV. After striking the Toyota, the Pontiac continued to roll, ejecting the driver from the car. The Pontiac also struck a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Lindsay Breece, 22, of Charles Town, WV, that was traveling westbound behind the Toyota.
