Berryville Road Causes Further Division

Hero or villain, the name Mosby remains divisive in Clarke County to this very day. The ongoing saga of the Clarke County High School approaches another milestone this week as the Berryville Area Development Authority BADA will conduct a public hearing at the Town/County center on Thursday, Feb. 25th, at 6 PM concerning the Final Site Plan Permit for the new school. Berryville has lost another business as The Lighthouse Restaurant on East Main Street closed its doors. After a tumultuous run, the local landmark turned out the lights for good on Thursday night.This marks the second time in the past year that the establishment has closed. The latest owners reopened the business last November under new management but with the same name.

The Regional VHSL Scholastic Bowl will be held at Buckhingham County High School in Buckingham, Va. A local emergency was declared at noon on February 9, 2010 as a result of the National Weather Service Winter Storm Warning Issued for Clarke County.

A tractor-trailer crash shortly after 12:30pm on westbound Route 7 in Clarke County near Pine Grove was still snarling rush-hour traffic at 7:00pm. The semi-tractor trailer apparently jack-knifed temporarily blocking both lanes of westbound traffic. Motorists traveling into Clarke County were initially detoured through Pine Grove just after the accident occurred.
