Balloons Fly Over Leesburg for Height Tests

On Tuesday, April 12, 2011, Landmark Realty will be conducting a height study on the Loudoun Times Mirror site in downtown Leesburg.

During the study, balloon markers will be raised to 45 and 65 feet at six locations on the site, located at the northwest corner of Loudoun and Church Streets. The study is expected to last from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trucks will be on site, but no traffic disruptions are anticipated.

The study is being conducting as part of a proposed Zoning Ordinance text amendment that would raise the height limit of buildings in certain areas of the downtown from the currently allowed 45 feet to 65 feet. If approved, the new height limits would apply to an area roughly bounded by Church Street, Harrison Street, Market Street and Town Branch.

The results of the height study will be presented at the Planning Commission’s public hearing on the Zoning Ordinance text amendment on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
