Alexandria Townhome Fire Ruled Arson
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators have charged Neil Benjamin Harrison, 28, Alexandria, with burning a townhouse and setting fire to woods, fences, and grass, in connection with a fire at 5206 Pleasure Cove Court, in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County.
Harrison was charged with 18.2-79, a class 4 felony, and 18.2-86, a class 6 felony of the Virginia code.
Original Incident Report – Two-Alarm Townhouse Fire
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire on Sunday, August 1, 2010, at approximately 8:20 p.m. in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The townhouse is located at 5206 Pleasure Cove Court. Fire and Rescue Department personnel arrived on the scene and saw fire and smoke showing from the roof and windows on all levels of the home with the interior of the townhome fully involved in fire. Due to heavy fire and the potential for spreading to adjacent townhouses a second alarm was struck, bringing over 60 firefighters to the scene. The fire was brought under control in approximately 35 minutes. Firefighters also checked the adjoining townhomes for extension of fire and evacuated those occupants as well. Red Cross has been contacted to assist one of the occupants from the adjacent townhomes.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
Damage is estimated at $167,060. The structure and the contents are a total loss.
This fire is currently under investigation.
