Air National Guard Helps Harper’s Ferry Dig Out

Harper’s Ferry has seen historic flooding in its history but this past weekend the town was dealing wit another flood of snow. Airmen from the West Virginia Air National Guard 167th Airlift Wing helped the historic community dig out from the massive back-to-back snowstorms. Camouflaged dump trucks hauled load after load of snow out of the tiny town as park police directed traffic away from downtown. While heavy equipment tackled the roadways, residents and merchants could be seen shoveling sidewalks and entrances in an attempt to revive the town for tourism. In spite of the obstacles there were still many visitors to the historic town enjoying the unusual spectacle.
