Shots Fired During Civil Dispute in Sterling
A Sterling, Virginia woman has been arrested after a firearm was discharged in her residence during a civil dispute.
Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a residence on Regis Circle shortly after 10 p.m. on February 1, 2010 for a report of gunfire. The homeowner, Dolly Jean Freeze, 33, and a former roommate were reportedly involved in a civil dispute. Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the residence earlier that same evening regarding a dispute over some of the items being removed from the home. Deputies left the scene after the situation appeared calm and there was an agreement as to what items could be taken.
After deputies cleared the initial scene the civil dispute continued. Freeze allegedly continued to argue from an upstairs bedroom window while friends of her former roommate continued to move items outside of the residence. Freeze then instructed her juvenile daughter to get her gun. She then brandished the weapon towards the friends and while handling the weapon it discharged. The round went through the interior bedroom wall and into her juvenile son’s room. No injuries were reported.
Freeze has been charged with discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling, brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of firearm, and two counts of abuse and neglect of a child. She remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
While securing the scene deputies identified a current resident of the home as a fugitive from justice. Aaron L. Grant, 36, of Sterling, VA was held on charges from Texas for felony possession of marijuana and failure to appear. Grant remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center awaiting extradition.
