Phase II Sewer Rehabilitation Project Continues in Purcellville
The Town of Purcellville’s contractors have successfully completed the relining work throughout various parts of Town. The next step is to have the
contractors work on pipe expansions on a section of West Main Street located between manholes in front of 631 and 701 West Main Street. This work will take place next week beginning on Tuesday-January 19, 2010. The work will be conducted as to have minimal impact to traffic flows as most of the activity will occur on the northern side of the road. During this period, please be cognizant of the workers on the northern side of the West Main Street as well as any changes to the normal traffic patterns.
The overall project involves rehabilitation of portions of the sanitary collection system that need to be relined to reduce inflow and infiltration (I&I) into the sewer system. This process of relining is more cost effective than replacing the system with new lines. The Phase II Sewer Rehabilitation project is part of the Town’s effort to reduce extra inflow into the Town’s sanitary system as per our agreement with the Department of Environmental Quality. Altogether, this project will extend the useful life of the Town’s existing sewer lines and should have minimal impact to the community. The project activities will be monitored and inspected by the Town and our consultants.
