The Purcellville Town Council at its regularly scheduled meeting on January 19, 2010, awarded a contract to Harry Braswell Inc., for the construction phase 1 renovations of the Purcellville Skating Rink, also referred to as the
Tabernacle.  Phase 1 renovations will cover structural repairs, replacement of the shingle roof with a metal roof to match the historical heritage of the building, and minor site and concrete replacement. The awarded contract is in the amount of $509,402 which is approximately $506,000 below the design consultant’s estimate.

“The Council is proud of its record of preserving Fireman’s Field.  The renovation of the Tabernacle will ensure the building will be an integral part of our heritage and community in the next 100 years,” said Purcellville Mayor Bob Lazaro.

Completion of the project is scheduled for June 30, 2010.
