Partnering with private corporations and local businesses, Fairfax County firefighters and paramedics are sponsoring the Twelfth Annual Firefighters Holiday Rescuers Toy Drive, and will distribute toys Monday, December 14, 2009, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Penn Daw Fire and Rescue Station 11, 6624 Hulvey Terrace, Alexandria, Virginia.

Department members, the Progressive Firefighters of Fairfax County, Inc., and the Fairfax County Professional Firefighters and Paramedics, Local 2068, have been collecting toys, games, and other items to be distributed throughout Fairfax County.

Through generous donations and support from businesses and civic organizations including Promax Realtors, Wal-Mart, and the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner, it is anticipated that several thousand school-aged children and their families will receive toys and gifts this holiday season.

The Fire and Rescue Department is coordinating with Fairfax County Public Schools and the Department of Family Services to reach a record number of children this year.
