Panel ousts Virginia’s technology chief
This is a surprising story that merits closer scrutiny. On it’s face value it appears that Mr. Stewart was fired for doing his job and standing up to a defense contractor who is not meeting their contractual obligations. It will be interesting to see how this story develops. There are laws to protect “whistle blowers” but this seems to be well above most instances that the law has been used for in Virginia. Might we see a lawsuit in the future…or perhaps some sort of settlement to make it go away…
Virginia’s computer czar was fired hours after he questioned a multimillion-dollar monthly bill from the giant company that the state is paying $2.3 billion for informationtechnology services.
Lemuel C. Stewart Jr. was ousted Wednesday as director of the Virginia Information Technologies Agency by its oversight panel, the Information Technology Investment Board.
